Enoch Stake Youth Conference 2010

On June 3rd 2010, we met at the church at 9:00 am. The stake brought us our first clue for The Amazing Race to get to where we were going. The first clue took us to the Parowan Gap. We had to dig through a bucket of keys until we found the one to unlock the lock. The next clue took us to the Minersville swimming pool where the kids had to stand on a tarp and turn it over without stepping off of it.

Next we went to the post office where the kids had to identify Prophets.

That sent us to the school where they had to carry a golf ball on a tee up around the flag pole and back. It was harder than it looks.

We made it to the Beaver County Fairgrounds where we had to set up camp to finish the race. We were all hungry by then so we sat down to eat our lunch.

Next we all met together for Lets Make a Deal. It was fun! They picked kids and Leaders by different things like who was wearing colored socks or who had sunglasses on or who's birthday was in December. They then went down and got to do a challenge and then got to pick a window or Sister Whittaker's pocket. It was hilarious! Sydney Berry won a shower for her and a friend. She bartered around all day to see who would be the best partner to take for the shower the next morning. She picked me (Sister Garfield) because I told her I would braid her hair the next day and wax her eyebrows when we got home if she would take me! That must have been the best deal she could find! That shower felt great!

It was time for the Mormon Iron Chef Competition. The kids had to make dinner with a few select ingredients. They had to use Bisquick as one of the ingredients. They could choose from Potatoes, carrots, onion, chicken, beef, bacon, soups, milk, eggs, canned veggies and a few other things. They decided on Chicken Pot Pie and Peach Cobbler(thanks Sydney B.)
It was delish. I didn't get a photo of the finished product!

We got up Friday morning and had breakfast and then it was time for the Carnival. Each ward was in charge of a booth. Ours was cup stacking. They had to take down and set back up, 3 pyramids of cups in a certain time . The kids would receive tickets for doing the games, which would be used for an auction later that night. . There was things like a dunking booth, picking up marbles with your toes out of ice, a climbing wall, climbing up a pole and ringing the bell at the top, shooting clay pigeons, and a few others.

Here are a couple of our youth on the climbing wall and Pres. Brough showing us his climbing abilities.

After we got the carnival over with, it was time for Extreme games between the Wards. We were paired up with Garden Park ward. Our first event was water balloon volleyball which we won, followed by watching all the Mormon Ads that each ward made. Then we walked down to the creek and had a tug-o-war over the creek. First it was kids and leaders, then just kids and finally just leaders. We didn't do too good until it was just the leaders and we kicked their behinds! It was awesome. We weren't sure it was going to happen and a few of us had some falls but we pulled through and won. Notice Shad sliding down the hill in the pics.

Then we had 3 legged kickball. Then human bowling, and finally human foosball. The kids had fun and it wore out the leaders.

After that was over we had a rodeo. We had things like Bull riding, Barrel racing, kid roping by the Bishop's, siphoning water from a bucket, cow patty toss and greased pig chase! The kids had a lot of fun with this.

After dinner that night we had an auction where we got to use the tickets we won and buy prizes. They included, a tubing trip down the creek, a pool party, a pizza party, breakfast served by the Stake, Cinnamon rolls, dinner and a movie passes, vip tickets to the fireside on Sunday and other fun things. We got the cinnamon rolls which were very tasty. After that we had smores and went to bed.
The next morning we got up and got cleaning duties assigned to each ward and then we had the award ceremony. We got best cheer and best special effects for our Mormon ad.
Then we had lunch and came home.
The kids showered and napped before going to a dance that night and we ended with a fireside by John Bytheway which was AWESOME! He was sooo good!
I think the youth and leaders all had a great time at this years Youth Conference and we cant wait until next years!
